White Star Quarry - News

We are Had an Underwater Cleanup and Bouy Day on November 12 at White Star in cooperation with Just Add Water and Divers Incorporated.  Thank you!  to all the divers who helped us get White Star Quarry ready for winter !  Clean up participants were be treated to free air fills, burgers, hot dogs, soft drinks, courtesy of Just Add Water and Divers Incorporated. There were door prizes, too.   Here are some pictures.

New additions to the waters of White Star Quarry

White Star Quarry now is (or so we think) the only Freshwater Training Facility to have SEAHORSES!  These Statues were donated by an aquarium in Northern Kentucky and are now underwater for people to enjoy.   Also Donated was a Concrete Statue of Pandora that is a picturesque addition to the enchanted forest area.  Please if you visit them refrain from touching since the statues are pretty fragile.   Here are some pictures for you.

Poseidon Rebreather Event - June 11- 12, 2011 -  Poseidon Web Page

Representatives from Poseidon Diving Equipment came out to give people an opportunity to dive the Poseidon Discovery Rebreather for FREE! Here are some pictures from the event!

New Fish Sighted by Divers.

One of our divers sighted a new fish in the quarry on May 21.   It appears from the description to be a type of Darter and probably was stocked with the Brown trout.  If  you see this fish while diving, please note as much as you can about the markings on the sides.  It is a small fish (3inches) and there may only be one of them.   If you can take a picture of it, that would be AWESOME!!!!  Best guess makes it a Blackside Darter.  If the dots turn out to be stripes or "W's" then it would be something else.  See the underwater creatures page for more information.

Good luck hunting!

Trout Release 2011

Every Year White Star Quarry gets over 2000 Rainbow trout on Good Friday. This ...is added to the 2500 Steelhead Trout that we got last fall and the 52,000 (very Small) Brown trout we got in March... should see a lot of fish at White Star this year!

October 31, 2009 -  A good time was had by all at our annual pumpkin carving contest.  Lots of pictures are posted here!

September 7, 2009 -  We had a super fun time at the Second Annual White Star Quarry Treasure Hunt.  We left a few prizes on the table which would have been given out if more people had searched!  Come try and win a few at the Pumpkin carving contest!  Here are some of the pictures.

September 7, 2009 -  We are happy to announce a new dive site at White Star Quarry.  The White Star Quarry Cemetery is here in time for Halloween.... welcome the White Star Quarry Cemetery to our list of underwater sites. Anyone have a Wrought Iron fence and gate they want to part with? We would love to install one around the area.  These head stones were donated by various Granite companies. Big thanks to Joel Thomas, Rick and Laura Hamman, Johnathan Eastbrook and the people who helped swim the stones out to their resting place. The most recent stones were donated by "The Reflections of Life Granite Sales" in Graystown, Ohio.
These stones were rejected by the customers, family upgrades, trade ins, or they were mistakes (see if you can find them) and all were destined to be crushed and turned into gravel. They look better at the bottom of the quarry. We have been promised a few more, we can't Wait!

We had a blast on February 7 - 8! Here are the Pictures!

NEW DIVE SITE AT THE QUARRY - November 2007 -  At around Noon on November 16, the "Pension Plan," a small runabout power boat slipped gracefully beneath the surface of White Star Quarry and came to rest in 29ft of water about 100ft East South East of the Police Car.  The vessel is equipped with many of its original fixtures including the swim ladder, hatch covers, steering wheel and compass.   A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Rob Gardin who donated the boat and cleaned it up for sinking.  Rob had the honor of being one of the first divers to dive the site.   More underwater sites are coming soon!  Here are some of the pictures.
